Children, parents and the staff of Millfield NurserySchool in Cropwell Butler took part in a sponsored walk in their pyjamas to raise funds for the hospice. We were delighted to receive a cheque for £385.00 – a fabulous amount from a small organisation. Lisa Maughan went to collect the cheque and have a tour of the delightful nursery with Millfield Owners Liz and John Miller. Huge thanks to all who took part and supported this event.
Matt Watson who is the son-in-law of one of our lovely patients has decided to take on the challenge of the iconic Vetruvian Triathlon which takes place on Saturday 8th September at Rutland Water.
The event involves 1900m of swimming in open water (Rutland water!!), 85km bike ride and just to finish you off a 21km run. Matt is training hard at the moment and is hoping to raise lots of money for Dove Cottage through sponsorship.

MELTON Lions’ annual Swimarathon has now raised more than £74,000 in the 12 years since the event started, writes Michael Cooke.
This year’s event generated £6,000 for good causes thanks to the 145 swimmers who took part – and swam an amazing 3,142 lengths between them!
At a presentation night at Melton Council’s Parkside offices cheques for £1,500 were presented to Dove Cottage day hospice, the Mayor’s Appeal for the Romy Children’s Fund and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

The Lions Swimarathon prize winners were:- Most lengths – Melton Wednesday; Achievement and Endeavour – Derek Kerr; Youth Award – The Speedy Sharks; Best name – St Mary’s Jolly Jellyfish; Most sponsorship – Pera Puddle Ducks.
Dove Cottage have been celebrating the success of our lovely summer fete held on Sunday 13th May.
This event made £4600 for the hospice funds! We had some new entertainment this year; – Punch and Judy was a big hit, the Defence Animal Centre did a working display to demonstrate how they train sniffer dogs to find explosives and drugs. We had our own fun dog show which was very popular along with the usual BBQ, cream teas, tombola etc. We also had some fabulous stalls and a bee keeper who brought his honey and a visual active bee hive.
Many thanks to all those who supported us in any way, through help on the day, donation of goodies and gifts through the purchase of prize draw tickets and supporting the event.
We couldn’t do what we do with your support.
