Auction Success

Despite the cold and snowy weather our Auction on 23rd March was still a huge success.

We had a record number of donated lots – 240 which took a mammoth 3 hours to get through. We had around 70 willing bidders and managed to raise around £2,500 for the hospice.

Huge thanks to all of you who donated, supported and volunteered to help, it makes a tremendous difference to us and we wouldn’t be able to continue doing what we do without your help.

New Charity Shop

Dove Cottage are delighted to announce that on Saturday 25th February we will be opening our second charity shop at The Old Exchange, Market Street, Bottesford. The shop will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 9.00am to 4.30pm

 

Donations of good quality clothing and bric a brac would be greatly appreciated. We will be receiving donations Tuesday-Friday from 14th Feb between 10am and 1pm. We would appreciate it if bags were not left outside the shop.

 

All profits from the sale of these items will got towards the running costs of the hospice.

 

We are looking for volunteers to help to run the shop. If you are interested in helping out, please either come along to our information session on Tuesday 31st January between 2-3pm or ring Chris on 01949 860303. No previous experience is required, as full training will be given.

New Dove Cottage Charity Shop

We have a new Dove Cottage Charity Shop!

We are delighted to announce that Dove Cottage Day Hospice have recently acquired a new shop premises in Bottesford. This will be our second charity shop. At the moment we are updating the fittings and decorating to make it fit for purpose. We anticipate that the new charity shop will be opening in mid-February.

Wearing It Pink!

Guests, staff and volunteers at Dove Cottage Day Hospice joined in with the recent ‘Wear It Pink‘ Breast Cancer Awareness day by dressing each day in pink.

We are pleased to announce that Dove Cottage Day Hospice raised £144.00 for Breast Cancer Care.

The ‘Wear it Pink’ money helps to fund projects like Dr Janine Erler‘s exciting research. She has done some exciting work into how to stop breast cancer cells spreading to other parts of the body. This discovery could ultimately lead to new treatments and improve the chances of survival for thousands more people.

The Breast Cancer Campaign charity is currently supporting research projects worth over £17 million in centres of excellence in the UK and Ireland.

Christmas Fayre was a Great Success

The Dove Cottage Day Hospice Christmas Fayre was held on Saturday 3rd December from 2-4pm. It was a very successful event and was well supported by families, carers and local businesses.

The Christmas Fayre attracted hundreds of visitors on Saturday and raised a fantastic £4,500. There was a wide selection of stalls which included plants, cakes, jewellery, gifts and cards.

Visitors to the Christmas Fayre also enjoyed seasonal favourites, mulled wine and mince pies.

On Sunday evening a Christmas carol concert with the Belvoir Wassailers was held in St Mary Magdalene Church, Waltham, which was also a great success.

We’d like to thank all those people who came along and supported Christmas events. We are a local charity and rely on the goodwill and generosity of our supporters to continue our good work. We really appreciate your support.

Belvoir Wassailers Christmas Concert

The Belvoir Wassailers held a Christmas Concert at St Mary Magdalene Church, Waltham on the Wolds on Sunday 4th December. Doors opened at 6.45 and the concert started at 7.30pm. There was a retiring collection for Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

It was an enjoyable evening and got everyone in the Christmas spirit listening to beautiful singing and rousing carols. Thanks to all involved for giving their time and support to help raise funds for Dove Cottage Day Hospice. We really do appreciate all you do on our behalf.

The turnout was amazing and they made £560.32 for the hospice funds. The Wassailers also came into the hospice and sang Christmas carols for our guests. At the end they presented us with the cheque from the concert.
