Santa Fun Run

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Santa Fun Run & Walk on Sunday 2nd December, it has been our biggest one yet, and we are so grateful for everyone’s support.

The weather managed to hold, we even had the sun shine at some points, the snow blizzard once again was a huge hit with the children and the adults!!

We couldn’t put on these events or offer our day care services free of charge without our local community support, we hope you had a wonderful day and we with every good wish for Christmas and the New Year.

Light Up a Life Carol Service

Thank you so much to everyone who attended Dove Cottage, Stathern’s Light Up a Life service on Sunday. The lovely young Salvation Army were the youngest yet and played so well, we are ever so grateful to the Salvation Army who take time out of their busy Christmas schedule.

We understand it can be a very difficult time of year for many and if anyone needs some support please phone 01949 860303 and our nursing team will do their best to help. We are open until Thursday 20th December.

Gift aid it!

Gift aid it!!!

Gift Aid is a fantastic way to increase your gift to us. Every gift you make, whatever the value, could be worth more to us at no extra cost to yourself, just by choosing to Gift Aid it.  Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs will add an extra 25p to every £1 you give to Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

How does it work?

It’s really quite simple.  Once you have given your permission by completing a Gift Aid form, we can claim the tax back on your donation.  This means that a gift of say £10, can be worth £12.50, at no extra cost to yourself.

Does it only cover regular giving?

Not at all.  It doesn’t matter whether it is a one-off gift or a regular donation.  We can claim the tax back on any donation made in the past four years and the good thing is you only ever have to fill in one form.  One signed form can cover every gift made to us for whatever period you choose, and can cover gifts you have already made and/or gifts you may make in the future.

How do I know if I am eligible for Gift Aid?

You can use Gift Aid if the amount of Income and/or Capital Gains Tax you’ve paid in the tax year in which you make your donation is at least equal to the amount of basic rate tax Dove Cottage will reclaim on your gift.

You don’t necessarily have to be working to be paying tax.  Apart from tax on income from a job or self-employment, the tax you’ve paid could include:

  • Tax deducted at source from savings interest
  • Tax on State Pension and/or other pensions
  • Tax on investment or rental income
  • Capital Gains Tax on gains

Thank you to our supporters for playing golf for your local charity, the day in total raised over £800!

Our team of Rutland volunteers who hold these wonderful charity days as a chance to engage with the community about Dove Cottage and raise money to keep the Ridlington Hospice services free of charge to those living with life-limiting conditions locally.

If you are interested in joining the fundraising committee in Ridlington please phone Debs on 01572 722630, there are no contracts to sign and we are a friendly bunch, we promise.

Our beautiful Tea Room on the Grantham Canal…

We never expected a facebook post to reach so many of you in the Vale of Belvoir, Rutland, Leicestershire & Nottinghamshire area. You have supported your local hospice in the masses and we can’t thank you enough. Some have come for coffee, some have come for scones and many of you have come to use our fantastic play park facilities and of course ice cream, we are so overwhelmed by your support.

Today we ran out of bacon and a few other items, we hope you can forgive us and we will be stocking back up very soon!

We hope you have enjoyed your day with us and we can’t wait to see you all again, hopefully in the near future, maybe even tomorrow!!!

All proceeds from the Tea Room and Charity Shop help support your local hospice situated a short 500 metres down the lane.  Dove Cottage offers care services to those living with life-limiting illnesses, helping up to 120 guests each week (At Ridlington & Stathern).
