Dove Cottage have been celebrating the success of our lovely summer fete held on Sunday 13th May.

This event made £4600 for the hospice funds! We had some new entertainment this year; – Punch and Judy was a big hit, the Defence Animal Centre did a working display to demonstrate how they train sniffer dogs to find explosives and drugs. We had our own fun dog show which was very popular along with the usual BBQ, cream teas, tombola etc. We also had some fabulous stalls and a bee keeper who brought his honey and a visual active bee hive.

Many thanks to all those who supported us in any way, through help on the day, donation of goodies and gifts through the purchase of prize draw tickets and supporting the event.

On Saturday 25th February we were pleased to open our second charity shop.

The new shop is located on Market Street at The Old Exchange in Bottesford.  Tel: 01949 844467

Howard Webb was the amazing after dinner speaker at a Charity Sportsmans Dinner held on Friday 24th February.

Holwell Sports and Social Club hosted this event which was organised by Adrian Stannard.

The whole evening was very enjoyable with Howard giving a delightful speech which entertained even those who didn’t have much football knowledge. Also attending the dinner was Nottinghamshire County Cricket Legend Basherat Hassan who brought along his own special blend of humour to the occasion.

Around 120 people attended the dinner which was in aid of Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

Donations of good quality clothing and bric a brac would be greatly appreciated. We will be receiving donations Tuesday-Friday from 14th Feb between 10am and 1pm. We would appreciate it if bags were not left outside the shop.

All profits from the sale of these items will got towards the running costs of the hospice.

We are looking for volunteers to help to run the shop. If you are interested in helping out, please either come along to our information session on Tuesday 31st January between 2-3pm or ring Chris on 01949 860303. No previous experience is required, as full training will be given.

We are delighted to announce that Dove Cottage Day Hospice have recently acquired a new shop premises in Bottesford. This will be our second charity shop. At the moment we are updating the fittings and decorating to make it fit for purpose. We anticipate that the new charity shop will be opening in mid-February.

We are pleased to announce that Dove Cottage Day Hospice raised £144.00 for Breast Cancer Care.

The ‘Wear it Pink’ money helps to fund projects like Dr Janine Erler‘s exciting research. She has done some exciting work into how to stop breast cancer cells spreading to other parts of the body. This discovery could ultimately lead to new treatments and improve the chances of survival for thousands more people.

The Breast Cancer Campaign charity is currently supporting research projects worth over £17 million in centres of excellence in the UK and Ireland.

The Christmas Fayre attracted hundreds of visitors on Saturday and raised a fantastic £4,500. There was a wide selection of stalls which included plants, cakes, jewellery, gifts and cards.

Visitors to the Christmas Fayre also enjoyed seasonal favourites, mulled wine and mince pies.

On Sunday evening a Christmas carol concert with the Belvoir Wassailers was held in St Mary Magdalene Church, Waltham, which was also a great success.
