Christmas Fayre was a Great Success

The Dove Cottage Day Hospice Christmas Fayre was held on Saturday 3rd December from 2-4pm. It was a very successful event and was well supported by families, carers and local businesses.

The Christmas Fayre attracted hundreds of visitors on Saturday and raised a fantastic £4,500. There was a wide selection of stalls which included plants, cakes, jewellery, gifts and cards.

Visitors to the Christmas Fayre also enjoyed seasonal favourites, mulled wine and mince pies.

On Sunday evening a Christmas carol concert with the Belvoir Wassailers was held in St Mary Magdalene Church, Waltham, which was also a great success.

We’d like to thank all those people who came along and supported Christmas events. We are a local charity and rely on the goodwill and generosity of our supporters to continue our good work. We really appreciate your support.

Melton Foods ‘Built4Comfort’ team raises over £3500

A team of 4 people from local Vale of Belvoir business, Melton Foods took part in the Samworth Charity Challenge in May 2011. They managed to raise a fabulous £3595.91 for their local charity, Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

Emma, Mark, Sarah and Ben aka Built4Comfort, spent the day competing in endurance events including: running, mountain biking, navigating, kayaking and swimming. They were welcomed into the hospice recently to present their cheque, meet our guests and have a tour.

We would like to thank them so much for their fundraising efforts on behalf of Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

Glenn is Dove Cottage’s Main Man

Glenn Main raises over £11,000 for Dove Cottage Day Hospice by completing the Great North Run.

Glenn, from Waltham in the Vale of Belvoir, raised over £14,000 for two charities when taking part in the Great North Run. Glenn (61) ran for local charity, Dove Cottage Day Hospice and also Help for Heroes. He has a strong connection with Dove Cottage Day Hospice as his wife, Ann, is a Dove Cottage guest.

Glenn spent months training and hoped to raise about £1,000 each for each charity. With the help of Major Simon-Weber Brown, who acted as fundraising co-ordinator, they were able to present us with a cheque for £11,683. Glenn ran the the course in 2 hours 37 minutes and raised £000’s in the process.

Mr Main and Major Weber-Brown recently visited the hospice to present a cheque to Dove Cottage manager, Chris Gatfield.

We’re absolutely delighted and would like to thank them for this amazing donation which will make a huge difference to our patients.
