The tea room’s unique location is the perfect spot for a walk along the along the canal followed by a cup of tea and a slice of cake, a pitstop on a scenic cycle ride or a home-cooked lunch and a browse in the upstairs charity shop.
We have a fantastic playground for our younger visitors, which provides a fun and safe place for the kids to play while the grown-ups have coffee and cake. There’s a zipwire, swings, climbing frame and a toddler-sized play area, too. We also have ice cream!
The tea room is just down the road from our day hospice, and the money you spend with us will go towards the vital services we provide for our hospice guests, who are all living with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer; by popping in for tea and freshly-baked scones, you are also helping to fund the care services we provide to people in the local community who need us.
The tea room itself is on a single level so is wheelchair and pushchair friendly. We welcome muddy walkers*, tired cyclists and hungry families looking for al fresco play time to tire the kids. There are always water bowls in the outside area for our four-legged doggy friends after a long walk (we just ask that you keep them on leads), and in the colder weather you can snuggle up with a blanket and a hot chocolate in our outdoor shelter.
Our menu has a nice range of hot and cold drinks, including great coffee and a selection of teas. Scones are freshly baked on the premises each day, and we’ll always have delicious cake to tempt you… If you’re in a rush, why not grab a coffee to take away?
You can join us for a bacon sandwich brunch or mid-morning toasted teacake. Our lunch menu offers sandwiches, bacon and sausage cobs, home-made scones and yummy cakes. Vegetarian options and gluten-free cakes are often available.
The tea room is run largely by volunteers, who deliver a wonderful service to all our customers.
Whether you fancy a coffee and a natter, a home-cooked lunch or an ice cream with the kids, our tea room is open seven days a week to welcome you.
